The official opening and dedication of the Lumby High School was on April 20, 1950. Total cost of the new school was $130,654.00. The school was called Lumby High School until 1963 at which time it was renamed Lumby Secondary School. In 1972 the name again changed, this time to Charles Bloom Secondary School. The name change was in honor of Charles Bloom who had been a School Trustee for many years.

Principals of the High School are: ? - 1931 Sidney Pettit, 1931 - 41 George Faulkner, 1941 - 46 John Prior, 1946 - 55 Ted Gleave, 1955 - 66 Greg Dickson, 1966 - 79 Herb LaFontaine, 1979 - 83 Mike Henderson, 1983 - 1994 Rick Dedora, 1994 - now Dave Lee.

Lumby Grades 11 and 12 attended Vernon High School for three years in 1969, 1970, and 1971.

In 1955 Lumby Elementary School was built, splitting the elementary grades. Grades 1 and 3 attended in the former Elementary School and this became the Lumby Primary School and Grades 4 to 6 went to the new Lumby Elementary. Eventually the Lumby Primary School was closed and all elementary grades attended Lumby Elementary. In 1972 Lumby Elementary was renamed J.W. Inglis Elementary in honor of J.W. Inglis who had been a School Trustee for many years.

Principals of the elementary school were: 1955 - 77 Tom Tull, 1977 - 79 Mike Henderson, 1979 - 84 Mark McCulla, 1983 - 88 Barry Irvine, 1988 - 94 Tom Rebkowich, 1994 - now Harry Adam.

Due to increased growth in the south Lumby area and overcrowding in J.W. Inglis, it was decided to build a new school on Whitevale Road. Classes started at Whitevale Elementary in September 1977 with an enrollment of 133 students from Kindergarten to Grade 6, with the official opening on April 7, 1978.

Principals at Whitevale Elementary were 1977 - 81 Orville Zander, 1981 - 85, Verne Bryant, 1985 - Dec. 88 Tom Skinner, Jan 1988 - 93 Barry Morgan, 1993 - now Bob Davidson.

In 1938 the Lumby Elementary School had 34 children in Grade 1 and 11 children in Grade 2. In 1936 they had 13 children in Grade 4 and 17 in Grade 5. In 1939 there were 13 children in Grade 6 and 12 in Grade 7. In 1943 the Shuswap Falls School had 13 children in Grades 1 - 8.

Lumby held a School Reunion from 1912 - 1940 on July 22 to 24, 1983. In 1991 another reunion was held for the years 1950 - 1961 and approximately 400 former students and their spouses attended.
