Present Day

Shop Floor Frank's sons Gerry, Joe, and Claude are the ninth generation of the Bourgault family in Canada. With Gerry operating Bourgault Industries, and Joe and Claude running their own companies, the tradition of quality service will continue in St. Brieux. Bourgault Industries' success is attributed to the team effort of everyone who worked there. Joe asserts, "Like, Bourgault Industries didn't get to where it was by one or two or three or four or five people, it was everybody that worked there, it was a team effort."

The company feels that its strengths lie with its Research and Development team and manufacturing staff. The Research and Development team consists of 44 engineers, technologists, and technicians, while the manufacturing staff consists of 800 employees. Almost everyone employed by Bourgault Industries has a farming background. The employees, therefore, realize that most farmers repair their own farm equipment and that Bourgault equipment must be repairable without the need for specialized tools. The designers adhere to the "KISS" principle in design: "Keep It Strong and Simple".

Shop Floor Bourgault Industries has been responsible for creating the first dual purpose cultivator, the first tow behind air seeder, the first air seeder capable of accurately distributing all seeds and fertilizer with an acceptable c.v. (coefficient of variation), the first loading and unloading auger system for air seeders, the first auto-fold sprayer with break-away booms and half width capabilities, the modern wing packer for air seeders, and the first granular herbicide attachment for air seeders.

The latest leading edge technological developments at Bourgault Industries are: the accurate and reliable chemical injection system for field sprayers, and a dual shooting coulter type No-Till Air Drill capable of achieving seed and fertilizer separation in all soil types.

Bourgault's intent has always been to build the most durable and reliable farm equipment in the industry. Whenever it embarks on a new design effort, the goal is to make the end product at least 50% more durable than the best competitor's end product.Bourgault Industries Therefore, the initial purchase price of the equipment is often somewhat higher than the competitor's. However, in the long run, Bourgault equipment actually costs less, for repair costs are lower and resale values for the equipment are higher.

There are many people at Bourgault Industries worth mentioning, for everyone there has played a part in making the business successful. Bourgault Industries would like to thank Len Horvath, Rick Schemenauer, Pat Yeager, Pat Boyer, Al Ferre, Louise Bourgault (Gerry's wife), Paul Leray, Rick Coquet, Louise Boyer, Paul Boyer, and Morris Boyer for their dedication to the business.
