The management of FPS includes Gary Schueller, President and General Manager, Dan Beuker,
Operations Manager, as well as Rick Reiger, Walt Oancia and John Murphy, Technical Sales Representatives.
FPS has expanded twice in its 10 years of existence, and now employs 15 people in a facility
of approximately 10,000 square feet.
FPS currently produces a reusable stainless steel filter, aiding in the reduction of disposal costs. They warranty their process filters for 2 years and the engine filters for 5 years. Their present market is in Alberta and British Columbia, with a small amount of business being conducted in Saskatchewan. Many of their products are sold to TransGas, though their biggest customer is Pamco, a company which distributes the Waukesha engines. These engines, which have up to 3 000 horse power, are natural gas driven and use FPS filters.
FPS has taken filtration one step further by incorporating their product into the oil and gas industry. As well, they have also done some work with food processing for a company in California.
FPS participates in a number of oil and gas trade shows across Canada in order to find
new markets. Their sales offices in Ontario have been operating since 1989. There are currently
approximately 250 distributors for the water removal filters and 20 for the stainless steel filters.
FPS has been asked to move to several different locations, but they choose to remain in Watson. Shipping out of Watson has worked out well, for Loomis and Purolator come each day. As well, bus service is readily available, and FPS owns 3 trailers in which they haul their products. The only drawback to being situated near so many other manufacturers is the lack of man-power.
FPS is currently working towards their ISO 9002 Certification, a quality assurance program that
is widely accepted throughout the US and other countries. The target date for this is January,
1998.
