May 30, 1935 after a whale chaser boat 'Blue' encounters a sperm whale.
"...but he could hardly ignore the arrival of a crippled chaser boat at the VMD yard in Victoria. And the Victoria Machinery Depot's repairs were not cheap; an estimate given prior to the 1934 whaling season quoted $1,580 to replace five riveted plates in the hull of the Blue and $400 to make patches and replace some riveting under the stern of the Black." |
