PRESS RELEASE
Nene Humphrey - wall installation The work exhibited in Sealed Orders is diverse in the use of materials and choice of imagery, but connected by a common thread of intimacy in scale and point of view. These small scaled works draw the viewer into a field which functions on many levels: literal, metaphorical and symbolic. In this four person exhibition the works exhibited range from a 2-D wall installation to manipulated photo murals to a sculptural installation in space to painted iconographic boxes depicting scenes of urban life. The sources of this art are diverse but overlapping; a combination of art historical references, contemporary street life and landscape. Presently working in New York City, Nene Humphrey, Kathleen McCarthy, Gail Swithenbank and Warner W. Wada will be exhibiting their most recent work from August 31st to September 18th.
