MEDIA RELEASE Mercer Union A Centre for Contemporary Visual Art is pleased to present an exhibition of works by Toronto artist Alina Martiros. This first solo exhibition by Alina Martiros will present recent figurative paintings and sculpture. Martiros works largely within the formal concerns of eastern European iconography and traditional Western oil painting. Using these forms she explores personal rituals, dream imagery and poetic visions. A Toronto resident, Martiros was born in Tehran, Iran in 1960. She has studied in Toronto at Sheridan College and York University from 1981 to 1987. |
