Robert and Elsie Reford made an annual autumn trip to Cariboo, sometimes returning in mid-winter. Getting there was often an adventure. They got off the train at Rimouski and were taken in a sleigh over the logging roads into the deep bush twenty miles behind Rimouski. They had built the cabin to the design of architect Galt Durnford in the 1920s and it provided them with comfortable shelter during their occasional visits. |
