"Here a week ago yesterday. Just leading a happy drifting existence, riding, reading, and fishing and loafing about with Sweetheart. River so very low and the weather so warm that there is little sport but Saturday I got a nice 23 lb salmon in the Mill Pool and tonight a 30 lb one in Sir Donald's. He played splendidly. Finished 1 Vol. Guizot, Louis XIII and Louis XIV and have begun now Barker's Netherlands of the same period.
