Dear Lord Mount Stephen,

After leaving Grand Metis with Sterling I stopped with Mr. Rockefeller at his place in the Adirondacks, otherwise I would have written you before this to express my appreciation of the splendid time I had on your river. The sport was most excellent, as you have been advised, and every one enjoyed themselves to the limit, especially Sterling...The last day I killed three, and one (a twenty four pounder) gave me the time of my life, rushing across Sir Donald's Pool several times and throwing himself out of the water five times. Landing that fish alone was worth the trip from Europe."

James Stillman to Lord Mount Stephen, July 24th 1909
