John (Jimmy) Osheckemick
Many Indian men served in the Great War. In 1917 John (Jimmy) Osheckemick enlisted at Chapleau for overseas service in the 227th Algoma Battalion. This portrait with his parents at Biscotasing was taken before he left for the front. After the war, Osheckemick returned home to join the Canadian Forestry Corps; he died in 1961.
