October 1923 to April 1990Born at Longlac and spent his younger years in that
area. When WWII broke out Gilbert enlisted and served in Canada, United Kingdom and
Europe.
He served for a period of time as a paratrooper with the Airborne Regiment of Canada.
Gilbert was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, 1st Canadian Parachute Battalion
Association, Native Veterans of Northwestern Ontario and a honorary member of the Heron
Bay ball team, the Warriors.
The people of Heron Bay and all the many, many others who knew Gilbert feel the loss of
this man greatly.
