History - Port-Royal
(con't)
The Acadians imprisoned at Port-Royal, numbering about
1800, were deported on ships on the 9th of December 1755. The some
600 Acadians that stayed at Grand-Pré under the watch of soldiers,
due to lack of transportation, were also exiled in December 1755,
along with several hundred fugitives captured in the region. Many
of these Acadians would never recover |
 |
from these events, separated from their families on
different boats. For many of them it would be the last time they would
ever see each other. |
