The town of Fortune is situated on the western side of the Burin Peninsula near the mouth of Fortune Bay. It is built along the shore of Fortune Barasway, a body of water which forms the harbour and extends inland for approximaely .8 km (.5 mi). Located in a shallow valley, the town is built on relatively flat land and is surrounded on the eastern and southwestern sides by low rolling hills.

Burin Peninsula Fortune Methodist Church. This church served the residents of Fortune from 1914 to 1966.

Burin Peninsula Parsonage, Fortune. This building was the home of the Methodist clergyman.

Burin Peninsula Fortune. Rev. T. H. James & S. Snowden, Mrs. Snowden and Constable. Thomas H. James (1848-1931) was Methodist clergyman in Grand Bank from 1884 to 1887; Samuel Snowden (1848-1916) was Methodist cleergyman in Fortune from 1883 to 1886.
