Situated on the northwest side of Bonavista Bay, off-shore about 1 km (.6 mi) at the nearest point, Greenspond is an island community comprising a group of contiguous islands, only a few of which are inhabited. Since 1983 it has been connected to Newfoundland island by a causeway.
