The Precursor to Modern Buffalo Ranching

Buffalo and Cow
In the 1940's, the Federal Government supplied Mrs. Emily Crawford with a buffalo cow for experimental breeding purposes. Her name was Victoria Peace and she was left to run with the other cattle. Word has it that she was shot because she kept jumping and breaking fences and was too rough with the domestic cattle. Some 50 years later, buffalo ranching has become a thriving industry in the North Peace.
