The First Deep Well
January 1952 - On the Bouffioux Farm, the first deep well in northern BC was brought in by Pacific Petroleum at a depth of 14,495 feet. The oil derrick shown in this photo is now owned by the North Peace Historical Society and stands proudly in front of the Museum. The 136 foot structure has become recognized as a symbol of our city.
