People of the North Peace

The people who came and opened up the Peace River area were a strong and determined group. Reasons for coming varied but most saw it as a land of great opportunity. Contributions to life in the North Peace were extensive and many individuals were honoured by having schools named after them. In looking back at our early settlers and at members of our First Nations, all were important for what they gave to the growth and development of our communities. In such a brief history as this is, it is not possible to list everyone who demonstrated the great spirit of the north. The following people and activities are representative of the foundations of our society.
