Yukon Southern Airline
Yukon Southern Float Plane on Charlie Lake. The first air service for the North Peace, established in 1935 for United Air Transport, later to become Yukon Southern, was from a base at the Powell home on Charlie Lake. Long before the lake was used for summer cottages and recreation, it was used by Grant McConachie and his 'flyboys' to provide mail and passenger service. Started by Grant McConachie, Yukon Southern was the precursor to Canadian Pacific Airlines.
