On the way to a Track Meet

Crossing the Red River
Crossing the Red River (now Farrell Creek) in 1941. Children from Hudson's Hope School are on their way to a track meet in Fort St. John. A truck took the children as far as Red River where they crossed by wagon and were met by truck on the other side. This was quite an event for the children. Teacher Edith Kyllo made team costumes for everyone. Of course, because of the mud and the dust encountered on the long trek to Fort St. John, the costumes were carefully packed away until time to put them on to compete.
