UPPER CANADA

Upper Canada was one of the earliest British colonies, and was a key territory in the conflict between France and England during the Pre-Confederation period of Canada. The region encompassed much of the territory which is now known as Ontario. The landscape of Upper Canada is diverse, as it includes rich farm land, the Canadian Shield, and the Great Lakes. Artists have enjoyed painting this diverse landscape and its inhabitants.
