The Nationalist Tour
This style
originated from a Canadian movement in landscape art. The style recognized
the Northland and symbolized a rebellion against the Dutch style and the
Barbizon school of naturalism. It appeared at a time when Canada's
population was starting to take pride in itself, realizing that it is
very important to celebrate its uniqueness. It was quite natural that these social ideas should be present in the art scene. The way artists in the
Nationalist movement expressed their country's outstanding attributes
focused on landscapes, with some portraits.
