The Regionalism Tour
This term covered the style of art that sprung up in relativlely isolated regions as a challenge to the common art styles of the time. It was more important during the 1930's than any other time as artists struggled to define themselves in new ways. By de
finition, the style of each regionalist was different. Typically, the
inspiration was the region itself, and the relationship it had with the artist was considered special. The activity marked in the works in a way represented a smaller, provincial kind of Nationalism.
