MYSTERY OF THE OLD SUITCASE

LETTER # 5

Thursday Sept. 24 1877
Point Ellice, Victoria.

My dear papa,

.....I hope you will have a good sport, and get plenty of birds for Jack and me. Tuesday was Alice Wards' birthday and we went in Mrs. Wards carriage which was sent over for our use.

The cellar is nearly finished, I think on Tuesday seven men worked, seven men the next day and today "six".

Mrs. Drake's canary bird flew away today, I don't know if she got it or not. The little chickens are going on very well. I got three eggs for two days but yesterday I left the door so I got none. Mr. Ellise took his cattle in to town and had them shod.

I remain your affectionate son

Francis J, O'Reilly
