Kathleen was born December 31, 1867. Her long name was Charlotte Kathleen O'Reilly, but she was also called "Kitty" or "Pussy" for short. She was born at Point Ellice House because in those days babies were born in their homes. Helping at the birth would be a woman in the community who had been at many births, and sometimes a doctor. Six years later her brother Arthur Jack O'Reilly was born and in two more years, she had a little sister called Mary Augusta, whose nickname was "Pop".
