PE975.1.4405a-c
The No.3A Folding Pocket Kodak (FPK) camera, model B5, was manufactured by Kodak Co. Ltd. Toronto Canada. The No.3A FPK was manufactured between May 1903 and 1908. Using daylight loading roll film #122, the camera took pictures of the postcard size 3.25x5.5 in picture format. The snapshot photographs in the O'Reilly collection fit these dimensions. The FPK camera was of upright form with the roll film running vertically and the lens front could be pulled out on a track on the hinged baseboard. A brilliant, reflecting viewfinder could be rotated so that the camera could also be used horizontally, for landscapes.
A small metal plate had been added at a later date to the inside of the camera's the back cover. This plate states the patent dates "Oct. 8,1901" and "Oct. 19, 1909". The No.3A FPK was altered to have a new back added in order to achieve an autographic function. The No.3A autographic FPK camera was manufactured in July 1914 until 1924. The size of the photographs were 3.25 x 5.5 and required write-on-film, #A122. At this point, no photographs in the O'Reilly collection were developed on write-on-film.
