Prince Camille de Rohan

Grown by Verdier, in 1861, possibly from 'General Jacqueminot' (HP) x 'Geant des Batailles' (HP)
... "Flower medium-sized or large, full, maroon crimson, very dark, velvety, nuanced blood red." (H61/264) "Intensely dark crimson colour, and deliciously sweet." [E] "The blooms are apt to 'burn', but are not much injured by rain, thin and apt to show the eye, below the average size, but remarkable for colour...velvety in the highest degree...free blooming and a good autumnal...requires a cool season." [F-M2]
