This stand of arbutus is the largest near downtown Victoria. Other native plants such as ocean spray and Douglas fir also thrive. Garden restoration expert Cyril Hume also rejuvinated an extant Hawthorne hedge from over 6 feet to a hedge no longer obscuring the view.
