Lesson Concept:
This is a great activity to encourage students to explore two
different perspectives to an issue.
Learning Outcome:
It is expected that students will assess at least two
perspectives on a problem or issue.
Lesson Plan:
Split the classroom into two groups and assign each a side on the
issue of Potlatch Suppression. Have each side research their
"perspectives" on the issue – the European side who
wants to suppress the potlatch and the Kwakwaka’wakw side who
wants to protect their right to potlatch.
Allow each side to present their
positions and discuss any issues that come to light.
