Regalia and Masks used in the Potlatch

Many dancers represented supernatural creatures or animals that were important to the Kwakwaka’wakw. These dancers wore special regalia.

After trading with the Europeans some of this regalia changed to make use of the newly introduced materials; however,  the masks stayed mostly the same. You can find out more about masks by playing our Mask Game.
