Curriculum Guide and Activities

“Turn of the century schoolroom (1919)”

This section provides educators with an introduction to our SchoolNet site. It will provide information on what type of concepts and facts that can be accessed from the “Lethbridge: The History of a Prairie Community” site. The design of the menu program in this section will allow for easy downloading of activities that relate to concepts found in the Alberta Curriculum guide. The activities are designed so educators can adapt them to meet the needs of the learners. The activities are to provide the student the opportunity to develop critical thinking skills and explore how society develops and grows. Overall the site is set up to promote the benefits of being a life long learner.

Curriculum Section

The curriculum section of this site is set-up so teachers can access it by concept. The concepts listed below are the ones that can be found at Lethbridge: The History of a Prairie Community site. Under each concept it is indicated how the information from the site fits into the Alberta Program of Studies. For example under contribution there are suggested questions that can be used to develop lesson plans for various grades. The questions are designed to help the teacher be aware of what type of information is covered within each concept. The questions are set up guide the teacher but will need to be adapted to fit into a particular class or age group. There is a suggested grade level for the information and how it fits into the Alberta Program of Studies, but it can be adapted for any grade level.
