Regina's Early Schools

Education has always been of great value to the people of Regina. The rapid growth
of the community required that permanent educational facilities to be built to serve the
families of Regina and their children.

Regina's first brick school was built in 1889. It was named "White School", after the color
of its brick construction. Continued growing student enrollment required a second school
to be built only seven years later. "Red School" was built in 1896 and was later renamed
"Alexander School" in 1906.

White School was demolished in 1910 and Alexander School (Red School) was demolished
in 1955.
