Regina's
Early Hospitals
The first hospital was opened in the new community of Regina in 1889 by Mrs. M. E. Truesdell
in a two-story house located at McIntyre and Eleventh Avenue. In 1896 a second facility
was opened, this "Cottage Hospital" was formally a private home located on Hamilton
Street and 13th Avenue.
Within its first two years of operation the Cottage Hospital could no longer meet the
growing needs of the community, and a new building was erected with support from the
Victorian Order of Nurses.
