The Canadian Western Agribition
Agriculture has always been an important part
of Regina's economy and agricultural exhibitions
and fairs have been part of the City's history since
1884. The Canadian Western Agribition agricultural
exhibition had its first show in the fall of 1971. The
Agribition attracted exhibitors from throughout
North America. In 1977 the Agribition was held with
Prince Phillip in attendance helping establish the
Regina Agribition as a major livestock exhibition
across Canada and throughout the world.
Regina Exhibition Association Limited presently
manages, maintains and markets Regina Exhibition
Park, a 95-acre site with 27 multipurpose buildings
worth more than $30 million. The Association is a
nonprofit volunteer organization, with an annual
operating budget of $9 million and presently
employs 60 full-time and more than 1,000 part-time
staff. The Canadian Western Agribition brings
millions of dollars in economic activity to Regina
each year.
