Public Transit in Regina Today - Regina Transit
Regina Transit recently celebrated its 90th anniversary in 2001. When the inauguration
of the City's first four streetcars took place in 1911, Regina had a population of 30,000
people. During the inaugural run of the service 7,400 people rode the streetcars free
of charge.

Today Regina's population has grown to over 180,000 people (1996 census). In 2000
Regina Transit served a total of 6.4 million passengers over 4.8 million kilometers of route
within the City. In 2000 Regina Transit commanded a fleet of 98 diesel buses, employing
153 drivers.
