he integrity of the interior was compromised with the reduction in scale because the nave made narrower. Pilasters brace a cavetto cornice which carries the coffers of the barrel vault. The dome rests on truncated pendentives which bear medallions with representations of the four Evangelists.

The sumptuous baldachin with twisted columns is a smaller copy of Bernini's. J. Arthur Vincent's work, of red copper decorated with gold leaf was given to the Cathedral by the priests of Saint Sulpice.

he interior of the Cathedral has several side chapels, including the chapel of the memento devoted to the epic pontifical Zouaves, the funeral chapel of bishops including, among others, the tomb of Monsignor Bourget; and the wedding chapel.

here are several paintings by Georges Delfosse, largely retouched, which tell the story of the establishment of the Church in Montreal, a statue of Mary Queen of the World by Sylvie Daoust, and a very beautiful plaster cast of a corpus by Philippe Hébert in the baptistery.
