The organ was blessed in November 1960 by the Apostolic Delegate to Canada, Bishop Sebastiano Baggio. He dedicated the organ to the memory of the Canadian soldiers who were killed during the world wars. This monumental instrument boasts a total of 5,811 pipes with the tallest one measuring close to ten meters. The console includes a pedal-board and five keyboards corresponding to six sections of the organ. It is a mechanical tractor-action type organ where the keyboards are directly connected with the pipe valves by means of light wooden rods. Every Sunday, a recital is performed by the organists of the Oratory. During the summer season, distinguished artists are invited to play concerts at the Basilica.
