This happens all day, and night. The heart never takes a rest or falls asleep on the job or takes a day off. It just keeps pumping. All day, every day, your heart works by squeezing its big muscles and pushing blood through your many kilometers of tubing. It squeezes together about once every second or even faster if you are running around.
