Link to the North

The Clearwater River (Clearwater River Provincial Wilderness Park- Saskatchewan)

In 1778, when fur trader Peter Pond stood at the height of land along the 19 km Methye Portage linking Lac La Loche to the Clearwater River, he gazed down into the Arctic-bound waters, destined to become the main route to the rich fur country to the north. Today, paddlers on the Clearwater travel through a land unchanged since those days....a wilderness of rapids, lakes, rock, and endless spruce forests.
