  • Henry Boyd is born at Cold Spring.
  • Mary Ann (born 1861 in California) the daughter of John Boyd's first marriage comes to Cold Spring House. She becomes the younger children's teacher.
  • November 10: the first appearance of the Big Bonanza Mining Co. in John Boyd's Daybooks.
  • The Big Bonanza Mining Company is organized and busy and on several occasions purchases items from The Road House.
  • October 26: John Boyd orders a Gold pen with a silver holder from a Mr. W. Jarvis.
