  • Quartz Excitement on Lightning Creek
  • January 5: John Boyd sent $15 dollars to Robert McLeese at Soda Creek on assessment on John Boyd's interest in Quartz Claims there
  • January 5: John Boyd Sold Half his interest in the Soda Creek Quartz Co.
  • January 20: John Boyd Located Quartz Claim today for the Big Bonanza Mining Co. Lightning Creek. Said Quartz to be known as the Lightning Quartz Mining Co.
  • February 8: Bought from Mr. McWha ½ his interest in the Lady Duffren Quartz Co. Lightning Creek and sold 5 feet of that to Mr. Carson.
  • March 16: A Copying press was sold to Mr. William Johnston (Road Support)
  • April 30: Boyd and Angus McPhail go Prospecting and find a nice ledge of Quartz.
  • The value of Gold Dust at the time was as follows: Amalgam Gold Dust = $16.55 /oz. Virgin Gold Dust = $ 17.38/oz.
  • May 13: John Boyd and family attended the funeral of Mr. Thomas Brown in Quesnelle.
  • May 14: A Mr. George Hyde bought potatoes in the morning and then later John Boyd goes to Beaver Pass that night on information on death of Mr. George Hyde.
  • May 31: Captain Jack Crawford and Troops spent the night at Cold Spring.
  • June 26: John Boyd buys a polar bear toy when he was at Stanley.
  • July 11: Mr. Nason came in for the night with a lady and 7 workmen.
  • September 5: Judge Begbie, Judge Ball, and an attorney named Mason came in and bought items The judges all bought bottles of Claret.
  • October 21: On this day it was William Henry Boyd's 6th Birthday.
  • October 28: On this day it was John Charles Boyd's 9th Birthday.
  • November 21:A school Tax is paid at the cost of $3.00 per customer.
  • December 17: John Boyd gives cash to the children to decorate a Christmas tree to be exhibited at the Methodists church, Barkerville.
