he Chapel at St. Ann's Academy was orginally built in 1858 and served as Victoria's first Roman Catholic cathedral. Built with logs and timber from Vancouver Island and redwood from California, it featured hand-carved ornamentation on the ceiling, pillars and altars.

Outgrown by its congregation in 1886, it was donated to the Sisters and destined to be moved. Raised onto log skids and hauled by horses, it was positioned over the main kitchen of the Academy and encased in brick where it rests today. In 1997 the Chapel was restored to its 1920's appearance as part of the entire restoration of St. Ann's Academy. Golden light enters the chapel through its original stained glass windows and reflects on the 23 karat gold leaf ornamentations. Oil paintings from 1900 and a 1914 Casavant pipe organ create an ambience that can not only be seen, but heard as well.
