1896: Annie Douglas Savage born on July 27

1914/15: Begins studying art at "the Gallery" (the Art Association of Montreal) under William Brymner and Maurice Cullen for 5 years

1916: Twin brother, Donaldson, killed in first World War

1920-21: Studies design in Minneapolis, Minnesota

1921: Founding member of Beaver Hall Hill Group of painters, informally associated with the Group of Seven

1922: Begins teaching design at Commercial and Technical High School

1922: Art teacher at newly established Baron Byng High School for the next 26 years

1923-24: May have spent some months teaching with Arthur Lismer at Ontario College of Art, Toronto at this time

1924: Travels and exhibits in Europe

 

1927: Spends summer on Skeena River, British Columbia with sculptor, Florence Wyle, recording west coast native art for Marius Barbeau and the National Gallery of Canada.

1933: Founding member of the Canadian Group of Painters (President in 1949 and 1960)

1937: Starts Saturday morning classes for children at the Art Association

1939: Broadcasts a series of radio lectures on Canadian art

1948-1952/53: Supervisor of Art for the Protestant School Board of Greater Montreal

1954-1959: Teaches Art Education at McGill in 1950's: Lectures at adult education classes, Thomas More Institute

1967: Tapes interview with H. A. Calvin, a Master's student at Sir George Williams University (now Concordia University)

1969: Retrospective Exhibition at Sir George Williams Art Galleries (now Concordia University's Leonard and Bina Ellen Gallery)

1971: Dies in Montreal, March 25
