The MUMFORD was the second vessel to attempt navigation of the Skeena River.   She arrived on the Skeena on July 5, 1866, but was only able to make 110 miles up the river to the mouth of the Kitsumgalem River as she was unable to navigate the Kitselas Canyon.   She operated the lower river for the 1866 season, and then in 1868 she was sent to San Franciso.
