Alberta: History of Irrigation Districts
Ross Creek Irrigation District (R.C.I.D.)

This small district was established in 1949. The approximately 800 hectares of irrigable land was located along Ross Creek, its supply source, about 24 kilometres east of the city of Medicine Hat. Storage in the district was supplied by a 5,500 cubic decametre-capacity reservoir, constructed by PFRA in 1951. During the late 1970s, only about 200 hectares per year had actually been irrigated.
