Léopold LaPlante was born on July 19, 1903, at Caribou in the State
of Maine. In 1917, he entered Sainte-Anne's as a student to later study
theology in Charlesbourg. He was ordained into the priesthood
in 1929. Before he became Superior at Sainte-Anne's in 1949, he was a professor
and dean of studies at that same institution. He remained Superior until
1955.
