Lake St. François acts as the main power
pool for the Beauharnois power system, which includes a
smaller power station, Les Cèdres, having a capacity of
about 160,000 kW as well as the navigation channel of the
St. Lawrence Seaway. The main power plant is however the
Beauharnois power station with a capacity of 1,600,000
kW. The water flow of the system is controlled by a set
of dams at the end of Lake St. François (Du Coteau
Rapids Weirs), along the St. Lawrence and near Lake St.
Louis. Source: Hydro Québec. |
