Quebec City, 1709
Quebec has a privileged location overlooking the St. Lawrence. In fear of a British Invasion, the French started to build a set of fortifications surrounding the city by the end of the seventeen century. The oldest (Beaucours) was constructed in 1693 and defended the eastern part of the city. Another one was built a little bit farther between 1700 and 1706 (Levasseur de Nérée).
