Music and Noisemakers:
Music is an integral part of aboriginal society, exhibiting great
variety among First Nations in Canada. Traditionally, most music
has been functional, consisting of songs associated with many
aspects of daily life, and with special occasions and events.
Music is indispensable to most rituals and ceremonies. Dances of
all sorts are accompanied by singing and percussion instruments.
Typical musical instruments include rattles, various types of
drums and, occasionally, flutes and whistles. (IC; INA)
