Celtic Shipyards International Limited

Celtic Shipyards International Ltd. is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Musqueam Indian Band. Chief and Council has mandated the yard to provide employment and training opportunities to band members and also, to be self-supporting.

Celtic Shipyards International Ltd. has a product line that focuses on the construction of all-welded aluminum hulled vessels for use in commercial and emergency response applications. To September 15, 1998, constructed vessels range from 6.5 meters to 20 meters in length. They are quick and robust with little requirement for continual maintenance.

The implementation of Celtic Shipyards International Ltd.'s own ISO 9002 certified Quality Assurance Management System assures the customer of receiving a problem-free, low maintenance vessel that accrues almost no down time. Our company excels in the design and construction of custom vessels for specialized applications.

The most important function of this process, is the ability to meet the specific design parameters of our customers. In addition, if required, we assist the customer in the development of typical "Mission Profile" that will help them in determining their own design requirements.

Our previous builds include:
1. An aluminum pump-recovery barge sold to the Pulp Mill in Gold River.
2. A 200 passenger aluminum dinner-cruiser plying Vancouver Harbour.
2. A 28-foot aluminum Search and Rescue (SAR) craft purchased by the Harrison Detachment of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.
3. A 33-foot high-speed aluminum patrol craft stationed in Bratislava to patrol the Danube river on behalf of the State Administration for Navigation - Republic of Slovakia.
5. A 34-foot aluminum pollution-response vessel for the Canadian Coast Guard.
1. Five (5) 40-foot fast response aluminum fire boats purchased by the Greater Vancouver Regional District.
2. A 40-foot Patrol and Sono-buoy Recovery Vessel for the Nanoose Bay Torpedo Range - Area Whiskey-Zulu.
3. A 38-foot aluminum patrol vessel for the Fraser River Harbour Commission and Port Authority.
4. Four (4) 38-foot aluminum Diver Training and Demolitions Deployment Vessels for the Canadian Department of National Defense - Fleet Dive Unit.
5. Two (2) 40-foot aluminum Diver Training and Demolitions Deployment Vessels for the Canadian Department of National Defense - Fleet Dive Unit.

In addition to Celtic Shipyards International Ltd.'s build programs, we have contributed to successful programs developed by other companies. These projects include:
1. An agreement transferring aluminum construction technology to "New China Shipyards" in the city of Guangzhou, Guangdong province, People's Republic of China.
2. Supply and fabrication of components for two (2) 122.5 metre, 37 knot aluminum catamaran ferries currently under construction by Catamaran Ferries International Ltd.
3. Design, supply, and fabrication of boarding decks for three (3) amphibious tracked-vehicles, recently constructed by Arktos Developments Ltd., and intended to evacuate distressed oil-drilling platforms located in the Caspian sea. The boarding decks also serve as the conduit supplying an array of fire-suppression fog-nozzles while the vehicles operate in a burning-sea condition.

Celtic's customer list includes many satisfied private companies and individuals. We are especially pleased to list the many government bodies as satisfied "Blue Chip" customers. We target these blue chip customers because they require the high quality, excellent durability, and unusual design parameters that Celtic Shipyards International Ltd. prides itself in delivering.

Celtic's pricing structure is very competitive. This claim is evidenced by our successful proposals to the Canadian Federal Government, who have a responsibility to evaluate competition based on best value for the taxpayers' dollar.

In a sentence: Celtic Shipyards International Ltd. produces "custom" and "limited-production" aluminum vessels of the highest quality, in a price conscious and timely manner.

MEC Systems Inc.

MEC Systems Inc. was established in June 1988 to provide solutions to manage temperature variations and humidity for agriculture, industrial, commercial and domestic markets throughout the world. In addition, MEC's technologies are very efficient in controlling dust, odors and other airborne contaminants in industries such as waste water treatment, rendering plants, loading depots, shingle mills, recycling plants, pulp mills, grain elevators, smelting, chemical and petroleum industries.

Pollution Control Systems

  • Emission Control Systems: Economically and efficiently scrub smoke, fly ash, and dust from Bee-Hive/Tee-Pee/Ollvine.
  • Dust Control: Dust particles and other contaminants are saturated by micron sized droplets of fog, thereby separating them from the clean air stream.
  • Wastewater Treatment: The "MISTer" system effectively breaks down and scrubs gas and air molecules with micron sized water droplets. Odour neutralizing agents can also be injected through the system to control unpleasant gases.

Cooling Applications

  • Cooling Systems: Indoor/Outdoor: "MISTer" technologies provide effective outdoor and indoor cooling for commercial, residential, industrial, and recreational applications.

Alternative Applications

  • Grain Handling Facilities
  • Pulp & Paper - Wood Processing
  • Dry Kilns

The "MISTer" system consists of an arrangement of atomizing nozzles, whose function is controlled by a central control module. The control module maintains the required system operating pressure, filters the water supply, and activates the operation of the nozzles based on signals received from a sensor, which is specified according to the application.

The "MISTer" system uses ordinary water which has been treated, filtered, and pumped up to between 600 and 1000 psi. It is then delivered through a 1/2" stainless steel tube or flexhose. Unique "MISTer" nozzles are placed at various distances along the tubing. These nozzles atomize the water into billions of micron sized particles which cool the surrounding air.

The cooling effect created by the "MISTer" system is due to the "flash evaporation" of liquid H2O. This is the change that occurs when a liquid under pressure passes through a nozzle to a pressure low enough that some of the liquid vaporizing, energy is consumed from the hot air, thereby reducing its temperature.

"MISTer's" unique atomizing nozzles offer low flow rates as well as a high rate of forward discharge velocity. This results in high turbulence and therefore, extremely uniform particle distribution. Each nozzle includes a non-corrosive stainless steel orifice and internal components.
