"Every new baby in the family has had
their picture taken on the chair!"

Sitting by the window of Mrs. Eva Gooch's living room is an antique wooden chair, which has been in her family for six generations. Mrs. Gooch was born on a farm in Hawthorn, Ontario, where she lived with her family of ten. In was in 1936 that Mrs. Gooch, then a post office worker, met her husband. The newly weds received the wooden chair as a wedding present from her grandfather.
Mrs. Gooch is now 90 years old and is still enjoying the 120 year old chair. She recently had the chair recovered, tightened and polished so that it looks as good as new. It's now family tradition that all the new babies in the family have their photo taken on the chair. Mrs. Gooch is very happy to show visitors her antique. She says she will enjoy the chair for many more years and that it will then be her son's turn to claim the chair's beauty and family heritage.
